The electric boats are very easy to drive. We will show you how and answer any questions prior to your departure. Instructions will include the basic function of the controls, rules of the road, areas to avoid, and keeping an eye out for hazards and other boats crossing in your path .

Newport Harbor Boat Rentals are driven by a responsible person in your party. Licensed captains can be hired at an additional fee as private contractors. If you are interested in a captain please let our staff know at least 48 hours prior to your rental so we can put you in contact with a captain.

The Coast Guard mandated passenger maximum for a 22 ft. electric boat is 12 passengers. Including infants, but we generally say that 10 passengers fit comfortably.

Our Insurance company requires you to be 21 and over to rent from us.

We only allow small dogs 15 lbs. and under.
We provide an aux cord for the boat’s speaker system. Please keep in mind that if you have a newer iPhone model, you will likely need a lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter. We do not provide this adapter, so please make sure to bring your own.
A 2 hour rental allows sufficient time to view the entire harbor and the incredible boats and houses. We do take 1 hour, 1.5 hour and 3 hour rentals as well. Please note that there is a two hour minimum on weekends and holidays. We offer one hour rentals on weekdays before 3.
During peak summer season, parking can be difficult on the weekends. Please allow ample time to park your car, as the lots do fill up. We recommend parking in the Balboa Pier parking lot off of Palm Street or a lot at A or B streets. Even better is to Uber or Lyft and avoid the headache of parking!
We ask that you check-in 15 minutes prior to the time of your rental. We require a waiver to be filled out prior to departure. It will save you some time if you fill it out before you arrive. We provide a link to fill out the waiver in your email confirmation.

Children and infants are welcome on the electric boats. All passengers regardless of age are counted as part of the boat capacity. The Coast Guard requires all children 12 and under to wear a life jacket at all times. Life jackets are provided for all passengers.

Absolutely. You can bring any food or drink on board. Please keep in mind that you will need a designated driver if alcohol is consumed on the boat. If the boat is left with a large mess we do reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee. For those bringing alcohol on board, please drink responsibly. The majority of boating accidents in the harbor occur when alcohol is involved and any damages to the boat will be the renter’s responsibility

You may decorate for birthdays but you must be aware Mylar balloons are not allowed per the City of Newport Beach ordinances. You have to limit the number of balloons so that you do not restrict the view for the driver. Please be aware that you may not bring confetti, streamers or silly string as these have dyes in them that bleed and stain the upholstery when they get wet or damp. damage charges will apply if any of these are brought aboard.
Sure! Lots of our guests take the electric boat to a restaurant on the harbor. Most harborside dining establishments offer a guest slip where you can park. Some places require a reservation to use there guest dock. If you dock your boat temporarily to dine please ensure the boat is tied off securely.
All our boats have an overhead canopy, which cannot be removed. You may open or close all the windows on the boat to suit your needs.

We do not coolers and ice available for purchase.

Swimming and fishing from our boats is strictly prohibited. If the boat is returned with wet carpet or seats you will be charged a fee.
The speed limit in the harbor is 5 mph. The boats must be kept inside the harbor.
